Wheat harvest begins in southern Iran

Tehran - The Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Crop Production announced the start of the wheat harvest in the southern provinces of the country at the beginning of the Persian year 1404 (March 2025).
“Every year, the wheat harvest begins in early Farvardin (March) in the southern provinces and gradually extends to other regions. Despite reduced rainfall this year, the cultivated area is slightly larger than last year, with wheat planted across 6 million hectares of farmland,” Alireza Mohajer said.
He added, “Currently, 6 million hectares of land are under wheat cultivation, of which 4 million hectares are rain-fed and 2 million hectares are irrigated.”
Despite the decrease in precipitation, there are concerns that production may decline slightly, but we are making every effort to maximize output, especially from irrigated lands, Mohajer said.
The deputy minister pointed out that if rainfall increases in the spring of 1404 (2025), the harvest yield will certainly improve.
