Terms of Reference

  • Studying, conducting research, formulating policies, and participating in planning and supervising programs related to the control, prevention, eradication and surveillance of contagious animal diseases, as well as veterinary quarantine activities.
  • Studying, planning and participating in programs aimed at preventing and controlling zoonotic (animal-to-human) diseases.
  • Planning, implementing and monitoring projects and activities related to animal health, veterinary quarantine and biosecurity.
  • Designing, developing and implementing surveillance systems for diseases affecting livestock, poultry, aquatic animals, honey bees, silkworms and other animal species.
  • Preparing technical regulations, operational guidelines and biosecurity standards for pastures, rangelands, watering points, livestock farms, animal housing facilities and related establishments.
  • Developing hygienic and quarantine standards for animal feed manufacturing plants and feed distribution systems.
  • Preparing technical regulations and guidelines for monitoring residues of veterinary drugs, hormones, pesticides, toxins, heavy metals, mycotoxins, radionuclides and other contaminants in food of animal origin.
  • Preparing, monitoring and updating technical instructions related to hygiene, veterinary inspection, quarantine and biosecurity requirements in slaughterhouses, meat processing plants and other animal-product processing facilities.
  • Assessing national requirements for veterinary pharmaceuticals, vaccines, sera and biological products, and participating in planning and supply management.
  • Conducting studies to determine the required number and distribution of technical personnel within both public and private veterinary sectors.
