Markazi - Tomato exports from Markazi Province, in the center of Iran are gaining momentum as agricultural authorities intensify oversight of sorting and packaging facilities in Zarandieh, aligning local actions with national efforts to boost export capacity, food security, and sustainable foreign exchange revenues.

 

Experts from the Plant Protection Department of the Markazi Agriculture Organization recently inspected the greenhouse tomato sorting and packaging unit operated by the Headquarters for Executing the Order of Imam (EIKO) in Zarandieh. The inspections focused on export-bound products and compliance with international quality and phytosanitary standards.

 

The head of the Agriculture Office in Zarandieh said continuous monitoring of export-oriented units helps ensure the production of high-quality agricultural goods, particularly key products such as tomatoes that play an important role in household food security. He noted that the ability of domestic producers to meet global standards reflects the strength of Iran’s agricultural sector and reduces reliance on imports.

 

According to the official, competition in international markets is driving producers toward modern greenhouse systems, advanced sorting and packaging technologies, and stricter plant health practices, developments that improve productivity and quality across the agricultural value chain.

 

He added that sustained oversight of tomato sorting and packaging units in Zarandieh demonstrates the effective integration of local initiatives with national strategies to enhance food security, expand exports, and strengthen Iran’s economic position in global agricultural markets.
