Over 13,500 tons of agricultural produce exported from Abadan in March, December: Official

Abadan - The director of the Agriculture Department in Abadan city, Khuzestan Province, has announced that 13,848 tons of agricultural products were exported from the city’s ports over the first nine months of the current year.

In a recent interview with IRNA, Naji Shahibzadeh said the main exported items included straw, pulses, onions, dates, and dried fruits, all shipped to countries in the Persian Gulf region.

Shahibzadeh emphasized that all exports were carried out in compliance with regulations, with plant quarantine experts inspecting shipments before export. Currency earnings and the preservation of global markets are ensured through a legal and efficient export process monitored by agricultural experts, he added.

He also noted that in December, 151 tons of onions were transited from Afghanistan to Kuwait via Abadan, with strict supervision over documentation and product quality.

Exports are conducted only after thorough verification of documents, mandatory inspections by quarantine specialists, issuance of phytosanitary certificates, and approval through the Single Window for Foreign Trade (ePL) system.

Abadan’s strategic location on the Arvand River gives it three major ports, Arvandkenar, Chouebdeh, and Abadan Port, which play crucial roles in regional trade and economic activity.
