Official urges support to preserve nomadic livestock breeds

Tehran – Iran's Nomadic Affairs Organization has urged the need for immediate protective measures to safeguard the country's indigenous nomadic livestock breeds, warning that their loss would constitute "irreparable national damage."
Jahanbakhsh Mirzavand, acting head of Iran's Nomadic Affairs Organization, emphasized the unique value of these breeds and said, these breeds are exceptionally suited to Iran's diverse regional conditions and are critical for sustainable pastoral economies.
"These breeds represent a national asset we cannot afford to lose," he said. "Neglecting them means destroying a vital national resource."
"Supporting our nomads isn't just welfare—it's investing in Iran's food security and genetic diversity," the official emphasized, noting that these breeds' climate resilience makes them invaluable as temperatures rise.
