North Khorasan expected to harvest over 31 tons of saffron, official says
North Khorasan – More than 31 tons of saffron are expected to be harvested this year from 5,430 hectares of farmland in North Khorasan Province, in the northeast of Iran, a senior agricultural official announced.
Esmaeil Mahmoudabadi, head of the North Khorasan Agricultural Jihad Organization, said the province ranks first in Iran for saffron yield, averaging 5.9 kilograms per hectare — a figure that surpasses all other provinces.
He also noted that North Khorasan's saffron is among the highest quality in the country.
The harvest season generates significant seasonal employment across various counties, making saffron a crucial driver of regional job creation, Mahmoudabadi added.
