Tehran – Residual nitrate levels in Iran's agricultural produce are lower than international benchmarks, according to the head of the country's premier agricultural research body, who also stressed the critical role of public relations in a new national extension movement.

 

Gholamreza Gol-Mohammadi, Head of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), revealed that a comprehensive study analyzing 5,000 samples of agricultural products from across the country found residual nitrate levels to be below global standards.

 

"The findings confirm the safety and quality of Iranian produce," he said, addressing concerns over fertilizer residue in fresh crops.

In separate remarks, the official turned his attention to agricultural journalism, emphasizing that "accuracy, speed, and correctness are the three main indicators in producing news content."

 

He urged that these principles must be observed at all stages of news preparation and dissemination, particularly in the context of the "National Promotion Movement" — a public awareness campaign aimed at modernizing farming practices and improving agricultural literacy.

 

"Public relations units have a vital role to play in this movement," Gol-Mohammadi added, calling for responsible, fact-based reporting to support the sector's transformation.
