Nahavand exports 1,000 tons of fish annually: Official
Hamedan – The city of Nahavand in Hamedan province exports 1,000 tons of fish annually, primarily to Eurasian countries and Russia, according to local Agricultural Director Tavakkol Abshenas.
“Nahavand operates 80 active rainbow trout farms, producing roughly 4,000 tons of fish annually. The city also generates 380 million eyed eggs per year, which develop into about 360 million fingerlings,” Abshenas said.
He added that the aquaculture sector directly employs 400 people. Two local aquatic feed production units, employing another 400 workers, complete a key link in the supply chain.
“Despite being landlocked, Nahavand accounts for 60% of Hamadan Province's total fish output, playing a major role in meeting regional demand.”
Abshenas added that a direct-to-consumer fish market, developed with the municipality, will open soon to boost fish consumption and support public health.
