Modern beekeeping boosts honey production in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari

Shahr-e Kord – The Deputy for Livestock Production Improvement in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari province, in the southwest of Iran, said the adoption of modern beekeeping methods has significantly increased honey output in the province.

Mehrab Karimi-Pour said that, based on this year’s apiary census, the province hosts more than 304,000 honeybee colonies, almost all managed using modern systems.

He noted that these practices have improved productivity and quality, while also supporting the production of by-products such as royal jelly, beeswax, and pollen.

The official added that with 2,302 registered apiaries and 2,188 people employed in the sector, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari has become one of Iran’s key honey-producing regions.

According to Karimi-Pour, of the 304,969 colonies in the province, 304,731 are managed through modern methods, with only 238 remaining under traditional systems.
