Tehran – Iran’s Minister of Agriculture has reaffirmed that the supply of essential commodities remains stable despite an ongoing naval blockade, thanks to the country’s multiple land borders enabling imports through various routes.

 

In a statement on Thursday, Gholamreza Nouri warned that obstructing the delivery of food and medicine constitutes a war crime under international law. However, he stressed that Iran is fully prepared for even the worst-case scenarios.

 

The minister noted that 85% of the nation’s food and agricultural needs are met domestically, leaving only 15% dependent on imports.

 

He also provided details on wheat procurement, saying guaranteed purchases are being made at 48,500 tomans per kilogram, with annual production estimated between 13 and 14 million tons.

 

The minister further outlined the government’s dual-track planning for both continued conflict and peacetime conditions, adding that all final decisions will be made in accordance with national laws and within the framework of responsible authorities.
