East Azarbaijan – The Iranian Minister of Agriculture toured the 4.6-hectare Abbasi hydroponic greenhouse complex in Heris County, situated in the East Azarbaijan Province.

 

Speaking during the visit, Gholamreza Nouri emphasized that, given the country’s climate challenges and limited water resources, expanding greenhouse agriculture is a key priority of the Fourteenth Government in its efforts to ensure sustainable food security.

 

He noted that hydroponic systems can dramatically increase water-use efficiency while significantly raising crop yields per unit area.

 

The minister stressed that modern agricultural models such as hydroponics must be scaled up nationwide, allowing farmers to increase their income through advanced technology while contributing to the protection of natural resources.

 

Nouri added that the government will continue to support private-sector investment in smart greenhouse projects by streamlining licensing procedures and providing the necessary infrastructure.
