Minister highlights importance of modern agricultural methods in water resource management
Tabriz - Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri has called for the use of modern agricultural methods to manage water resources.
“Today, new techniques are being used around the world to reduce water consumption and increase agricultural productivity. We, too, must make use of these methods. Through greenhouse cultivation, we can achieve five to six times more efficiency from each unit of water while also increasing agricultural production,” Nouri said recently.
“At present, the country is facing one of its most significant environmental challenges: water scarcity. In the past, we used water resources improperly, and we are now confronted with the consequences. Moreover, climate change and recurring droughts have intensified this crisis.”
Alongside modern agricultural methods, the minister said, we must not overlook preventive measures in watershed management. These efforts can help ensure the proper management of water resources and prevent water loss.
