Iran’s envoy to Turkmenistan calls for expansion of barberry exports to regional markets
South Khorasan – The Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan has emphasized the need to strengthen barberry exports to neighboring countries, particularly Turkmenistan.
Ali Mojtaba Roozbahani made the remarks during a visit to barberry orchards in Khong village located in South Khorasan, and a local barberry packaging facility, accompanied by provincial and local officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Agricultural Organization.
The visit reviewed the current state of barberry production, harvesting, and processing in the region, and explored practical strategies to expand the export of this high-value crop to regional markets.
Commending the dedication of farmers and private-sector entrepreneurs, Roozbahani highlighted the importance of increasing the added value of Iranian agricultural products through advanced processing and standardized packaging. He also called for measures to facilitate the export of high-quality Iranian goods to neighboring countries.
The ambassador and his delegation later visited the barberry orchards in Mahmoo’i village, where they observed the harvest process and discussed local farmers’ challenges and needs.
