Garmsar — An automated wheat sampler developed by a domestic knowledge-based firm has been installed at the 100,000-ton Garmsar silo complex, eastern Iran's largest grain storage facility, at a cost of $80,000.

 

The device, officials say, significantly boosts sampling speed and accuracy while reducing human error, enabling better service to farmers and faster processing of state wheat purchases.

 

Designed and produced locally, the system is part of a broader push by the Ministry of Agriculture to modernize grain storage infrastructure.

 

According to Abdolrahim Tahsili, Director General of Semnan Province's Grain Organization, the sampler also shortens unloading times and improves quality assessment, key gains for both productivity and food security.

 

He stressed that homegrown equipment strengthens Iran's technical know-how and reduces dependence on foreign imports, while reinforcing the national storage network and strategic grain reserves.
