Tehran – Iranian researchers have achieved notable recognition in the latest Stanford University global ranking of the world’s most-cited scientists, reflecting a strong rise in the country’s scientific standing, particularly in food security and agricultural sciences.

 

According to reliable sources and reports, the number of Iranian scientists among the top 2% of global researchers increased from 2,326 in 2024 to 2,533 in 2025. Of these, 31 scientists from institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad were ranked among the top 2% (one-year index) and top 1% (10-year citation index).

 

Their work spans key strategic areas including forestry, veterinary vaccines, soil conservation, and agricultural biotechnology. Officials credited these achievements to targeted research investments and support for scientific talent, advancing Iran’s goals for self-sufficiency and sustainable food security.
