Tehran – Iran's safflower yield surpassed the global average last crop year, according to the head of the Oilseed Research

 Department at the country’s Seed and Plant Improvement Institute

“Domestic production reached 828 kilograms per hectare, exceeding the 2023 worldwide average of 795 kg/ha,” Mehdi Qaffari said. 

He noted that while global safflower cultivation spans one million hectares, Iran dedicated 11,335 hectares to the crop.

"Our vast, climatically diverse terrain allows oilseed cultivation across all regions,” the official said.
