Rome - The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Rome has opened a book of condolence after the exalted soul of the Leader of the great nation of Iran and the vanguard of the Islamic Ummah, His Eminence Imam Khamenei, ascended to the highest heavens after drinking the sweet nectar of martyrdom in the blessed month of Ramadan.

 

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the embassy expressed its deep appreciation for the messages of sympathy and solidarity received from Italian citizens and institutions during this period of national mourning.

 

"These expressions of compassion and respect represent a meaningful testament to the genuine human bonds between nations, particularly between the peoples of Iran and Italy," the statement read. "Such solidarity brings comfort and reaffirms our shared commitment to the values of human dignity, friendship, and peaceful coexistence among nations."

 

While Iran was engaged in the negotiations, on Saturday, the US and Israel, similar to previous times, started their unprovoked military assault, launching attacks on multiple cities across the country. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei was assassinated in the terrorist US-Israeli attacks. Iran began to swiftly retaliate against the criminal aggression by launching barrages of missile and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as on the US bases in regional countries.

 

The book of condolences will remain open at the embassy premises in Rome for three consecutive days, from Wednesday, March 4, through Friday, March 6, 2026. Visitors are welcome between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and again from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

The embassy reiterated its gratitude for the outpouring of sympathy and solidarity, emphasizing that it deeply values this demonstration of human empathy and mutual respect between the Iranian and Italian people.
