Iranian dates making their way into global markets

Kermanshah - The Qasr-e Shirin city, in western Kermanshah province, produces more than 4,000 tons of dates annually, with nearly 30 percent exported to international markets, a provincial official says.

Reza Khosravi, Director of the Qasr-e Shirin Agricultural Office, added that this export capacity significantly boosts farmers’ incomes and contributes to the region’s economic growth.

He emphasized the importance of Ashrasi dates—a native, dry variety exclusive to Qasr-e Shirin that has become a signature brand for the county. This unique product, he said, has strong potential to anchor broader economic development.

According to current estimates, date production this year has exceeded 4,000 tons. With the region’s agricultural strengths, production is expected to rise in the coming years. Khosravi added that expanding processing industries could position Qasr-e Shirin as a stable, leading hub for date production and value-added processing.
