Tehran - An innovative Damask rose–based product known as “Black Rosewater” was officially unveiled during Research and Technology Week at the School of Medicine of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, in the presence of Iran’s Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education.

 

The product has been developed by Asia Medicinal Plants Tissue Culture, a knowledge-based company.

 

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the company’s CEO, Iraj Rastgar, described Black Rosewater as a novel, additive-free product derived from Damask rose, highlighting its natural anti-inflammatory properties.

 

He said the product has demonstrated multiple health benefits, including support for the immune system, reduction of anxiety, calming effects, and positive impacts on skin health.

 

Rastgar explained that the distinctive black color of the rosewater results from a newly developed production method. He stressed that this process preserves the authentic fragrance of freshly bloomed Damask roses while enhancing the stability and quality of the flower’s active components.

 

Emphasizing the need to expand value-added processing of Damask rose in Iran, he noted that the country is a global center of genetic diversity for the plant. “This genetic diversity is a hidden natural asset with significant potential across the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, health, and food industries,” he said.

 

According to the producer, Black Rosewater is set to enter the market next month and will be made available to consumers nationwide.
