Iran tomato exports surge

Tehran – Iran's tomato exports have experienced a significant boost, contributing to a substantial increase in overall agricultural exports.
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the value of tomato exports reached $177 million during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-August 21).
Tomato ranked as the second most exported agricultural item in this period, following pistachios. The total value of Iran's agricultural product exports saw a remarkable 33 percent increase during the same period compared to the previous year.
IRICA data revealed that Iran exported a total of 2.657 million tons of agricultural products worth $1.453 billion in the first five months of this year, representing a 22 percent increase in both value and weight compared to the previous year.
Earlier reports indicated that Iran exported approximately 2.226 million tons of agricultural products valued at $1.18 billion in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-July 21), registering a 32 percent increase in value year on year.
The overall value of Iran's agricultural and foodstuff product exports increased by 22.5 percent in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 19), according to the spokesman of the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining and Trade.
These figures highlight the growing importance of agricultural exports to Iran's economy and the country's success in expanding its global market presence for agricultural products.
