Iran to launch 2,000 model farms
Tehran – Iran will establish some 2,000 model farms as part of nine major agricultural projects under the "Resistance Economy" initiative, a senior agriculture official announced.
According to the head of Iran's Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), the projects aim to boost productivity and complete the value chain in key sectors, including saffron, pistachios, and rice.
"Model farms will help transfer modern knowledge to the field, reducing costs and improving quality," Gholmreza Gol-Mohammadi said.
He added that a new oilseed crop, Camelina, will be introduced. “In rice, just 20% of the program's goals could raise production by 200,000 tons. Export duties on pistachios have also been removed to strengthen global market position.”
