Tehran – The head of Iran’s Plant Protection Organization called for expanded cooperation with Tanzania in agriculture and plant protection, focusing on plant quarantine, joint pest control, and trade facilitation.

 

Speaking with Tanzanian economic and scientific figure Azim Doji, Maryam Jalili-Moghaddam highlighted shared challenges like desert locust infestations and proposed joint training programs on monitoring and pest management under a quarantine memorandum of understanding.

 

She also emphasized sharing technical expertise in pest monitoring and laboratory diagnostics, noting that mutual recognition of quarantine certificates and test results could reduce trade costs and clearance times.

 

The Iranian official further identified collaboration on pesticide trade, coordination among agricultural associations, and expanding Iran’s overseas cultivation in Tanzania as key priorities.
