Tehran – Iran has been ranked eighth among the world’s leading producers of silk yarn, according to Habibollah Rezadoost, head of the National Sericulture Development Center.

 

Rezadoost made the announcement during a meeting with a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Silk Industry Union.

 

He underlined the significance of Gilan Province as the country’s main hub for tea, rice, and silk production, stressing the need to expand cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan in the field of sericulture.

 

The official added that Iran’s development strategy for the silk industry includes distributing hybrid silkworm eggs, providing subsidized mulberry saplings, and offering targeted training programs to support farmers and producers.
