South Khorasan – The director of the Agriculture Office of Sarbisheh County announced a significant increase in the volume of agricultural exports, imports, and transit shipments through the Mahirud border crossing in South Khorasan Province, situated in the eastern region of Iran.

 

Mr. Mohmmadi said that, based on official statistics, approximately 49,000 tons of agricultural products were exported to Afghanistan during the year 1404 (Iranian calendar), with a total value exceeding 1,000 billion tomans.

 

He explained that the main agricultural export commodities for which phytosanitary certificates were issued included tomatoes, onions, potatoes, eggplants, bell peppers, chili peppers, chickpeas, dates, kiwis, squash, pomegranates, oranges, tangerines, watermelons, apples, cucumbers, sweet limes, and lemons.

 

The official further noted that during the same period, about 36,000 tons of goods, comprising dried apricots, fresh apples, dried figs, grapes, raisins, and currants, were transited from Afghanistan through the Mahirud border to destination countries including India, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Pakistan.
