Tehran - Iran is seeking to expand regional cooperation in vaccine technology transfer, specialized training and production capacity to help countries strengthen their vaccine self-sufficiency and preparedness against infectious diseases.

Hassan Morovvati, head of Iran’s Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, outlined the initiative at Kazakhstan’s KazAgroFarm 2026 international exhibition, identifying technology transfer and specialized skills development as key priorities for cooperation with regional partners.

According to the institute’s public relations office, Morovvati highlighted Iran’s scientific and industrial capabilities in vaccine production and agricultural biotechnology, saying joint initiatives could facilitate technical knowledge-sharing, specialized training and capacity-building programs tailored to participating countries’ needs.

He stressed that such initiatives would be pursued in accordance with the needs of partner countries, mutually approved agreements and available financial resources.

Morovvati also announced efforts to establish the basis for a memorandum of understanding involving the Razi Institute and Iran’s Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO).

The proposed agreement aims to strengthen vaccination preparedness, facilitate vaccine technology transfer and enhance the technical capabilities of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Morovvati said closer scientific and technological cooperation could improve countries’ capacity to respond to infectious disease outbreaks while contributing to stronger regional food security.
