Iran moves to expand Royal Jelly production
Khorasan Razavi - Iran’s northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi ranks second in the country in royal jelly production, with officials highlighting the sector’s potential to boost beekeepers’ incomes, create jobs and strengthen food security.
Majid Jafari, head of the Khorasan Razavi Agricultural Organization, said the province has significant agricultural and livestock production capacities, including considerable potential in the beekeeping industry.
He described royal jelly, a high-value honeybee product, as an important economic opportunity, noting that expanding production could diversify the province’s beekeeping output, increase producers’ incomes, create employment and generate greater value added in the agricultural sector.
Jafari stressed the need to support beekeepers and expand specialized production activities.
He said the adoption of modern technologies and expertise, improved training for producers, more efficient production methods, and better marketing and distribution systems could further strengthen the province’s position in the production of high-value beekeeping products.
He added that expanding agricultural production capacity, improving productivity and supporting farmers and other producers are essential to promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing food security.
Beyond its economic contribution, Jafari noted, beekeeping plays a vital role in pollinating plants and agricultural crops, helping improve yields in both farming and horticulture.
“The industry therefore contributes not only to the production of valuable commodities but also to agricultural sustainability and the resilience of the food supply chain.”
