Rome — Renovation work on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s room at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) headquarters in Rome has officially begun.

Ali Teymouri, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Management Development and Resources, attended the launch and finalized an agreement with FAO alongside the ministry’s director-general for financial affairs and Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to FAO.

Under the agreement, FAO will provide the room and lobby with modern audio-visual equipment and the infrastructure needed to host meetings, training courses and workshops. Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture will undertake the physical renovation and refurbishment of the facilities.

Teymouri reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to expanding cooperation with FAO and strengthening the country’s role within the UN specialized agency.

Iran has been a member of FAO since 1953. Its Permanent Representation to FAO also represents the country before the World Food Program (WFP) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
