Tehran - Iran will introduce a national identification and traceability system for seven major crop products, wheat, barley, potatoes, onions, rice, legumes, and field-grown tomatoes, as part of the first phase of a new regulatory directive.

 

The rollout was reviewed at a meeting convened by the Ministry of Agriculture’s Deputy for Crop Production, with participation from the Agricultural Guilds Chamber, the Agricultural and Natural Resources Engineering Organization, the ministry’s Center for Statistics, Information Technology and Communications, and the Office of Environment, Sustainable Development and Technology Affairs.

 

Officials presented progress reports and examined operational challenges related to the full deployment of the Integrated Agriculture and Trade System of Iran (Yekta) and interoperability with affiliated data platforms.

 

Under the approved implementation plan, the seven crops will be covered by the traceability framework in the directive’s first year, establishing standardized product records to support monitoring, data integration, and sectoral governance.
