Iran launches 20 nationwide agricultural research projects

Tehran - The Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO) has initiated 20 major agricultural research projects in partnership with universities, professional associations, and knowledge-based companies.

Gholamreza Golmohammadi, head of AREEO, announced the initiative during a meeting of deputy ministers at the Ministry of Agriculture on Saturday, which was attended by the President.

He noted that the organization has shifted to a problem-oriented research strategy aimed at addressing key challenges in the agricultural sector.

“As part of this new approach, 200 research topics have been registered in the organization’s database, and resources will be allocated in line with these priorities,” Golmohammadi said, highlighting active collaboration with top domestic universities and specialized associations.

On the international front, AREEO has signed an agreement with China to send four Iranian researchers abroad to study the country’s latest advances in agriculture.

Golmohammadi added that 60 villages have been selected for pilot projects in cooperation with universities. The results of these experimental farms will be showcased directly to farmers, creating a practical channel for applying research outcomes in the field.
