Isfahan - Iran has inaugurated the country’s largest greenhouse seedling production complex in Isfahan Province, a major investment aimed at boosting water efficiency and supporting the growth of greenhouse agriculture.

The facility, built with an investment of 330 billion rials, has the capacity to produce 150 million seedlings annually, according to Mohammad Mehdi Boroumandi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Horticultural Affairs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Boroumandi said the project aligns with national efforts to increase agricultural productivity and conserve water resources. He noted that greenhouse expansion is a central component of Iran’s Seventh Development Plan, with 3,500 hectares of new greenhouse area added across the country over the past two years.

The deputy minister said modern seedling production technologies can significantly reduce water consumption while improving crop health, shortening growing cycles, and increasing yields.

Covering 12.6 hectares, the new complex is expected to strengthen the supply of high-quality seedlings for farms and greenhouses nationwide, supporting more efficient and sustainable agricultural production.
