Iran exports over 2,100 tons of cherries to Russia
Khorasan Razavi – The city of Golbahar in northeastern Iran has exported 2,135 tons of fresh cherries and sour cherries to Russia this year, reflecting growing demand for Iranian fruit in the Russian market, a local agricultural official said.
Mr. Rostami, head of the Golbahar Agricultural Department, said the city harvested 8,500 tons of cherries and 11,000 tons of sour cherries this season from 710 hectares of cherry orchards and 900 hectares of sour cherry orchards.
He added Golbahar produces a range of commercial cherry and sour cherry varieties that supply both domestic and export markets.
According to Rostami, exports to Russia have provided a significant boost to local growers by expanding market access, increasing orchard revenues, and supporting the continued growth of the county’s horticultural sector.
