Riyadh – Iranian Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia for hosting the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

During a meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Nouri emphasized the importance of regional cooperation among West Asian countries and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council in developing a targeted plan to address the pressing issue of desertification.

The COP16 conference, which began today in Riyadh, aims to combat desertification, accelerate land restoration, and build resilience to drought through community-driven solutions. This high-level international gathering, held from December 2nd to 13th, brings together government officials, businesses, and civil society organizations from around the world to address the pressing issue of desertification and drought.
