Iran approves 10,000-ton chicken meat export to support poultry sector
Tehran – Iran has approved the export of 10,000 metric tons of chicken meat as part of efforts to manage surplus production and support the country's poultry industry, the head of the Iran Broiler Breeders Union announced.
Hamidreza Asadollah-Nejad said Iran's poultry sector has the capacity to produce around 3 million metric tons of chicken annually, with 170 million chicks placed each year, reflecting the industry's robust production capabilities.
Despite strong output, weakening domestic demand has created excess supply, making exports essential to stabilizing the market, preventing product accumulation, and safeguarding producers' incomes, he said.
Asadollah-Nejad welcomed the export authorization but stressed the need for a sustained and predictable export policy to fully capitalize on Iran's export potential and ensure long-term market stability.
He also emphasized the importance of specialized trade exhibitions in promoting innovation, expanding export opportunities, and strengthening the country's livestock and poultry industry.
