Iran agricultural exports surge significantly

Tehran – Iran recorded a 35% year-on-year increase in agricultural exports between March 2024 and February 2025, according to official trade data.
A spokesperson for the Trade Development Commission of Iran's House of Industry, Mine, and Trade reported that the country shipped 9.4 million metric tons of agricultural, livestock, and food products during this period, generating $7.566 billion in revenue.
The bulk of these exports—90% by volume and 77% by value—were delivered to 15 neighboring countries, underscoring Iran's growing role as a regional food supplier, he added.
According to reports, the Ministry of Agricultural is implementing new measures to streamline export procedures, including, orchard certification programs to enhance product traceability and direct contracts between farmers and traders to improve market efficiency.
Under Iran’s Seventh Development Plan, agricultural exports are projected to rise by an additional 20-25%, further strengthening the sector's contribution to the national economy.
