Iran, Uzbekistan agree to strengthen fisheries cooperation

Tehran - Senior officials from Iran and Uzbekistan held talks to discuss ways to expand partnership opportunities in the fisheries sector.
The meeting was held in Tehran with Abbas Mokhtari, Director General of Iran’s Fisheries Quality and Market Development, Sherifov from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Agriculture, and Kadiev of Uzbekistan's Fisheries Union in attendance.
During discussions, Mokhtari outlined Iran's existing seafood and fish feed exports to Uzbekistan while emphasizing readiness for deeper collaboration.
Both sides agreed to organize technical visits for Uzbek delegates to inspect Iran's advanced fish feed production facilities and aquaculture operations during the upcoming Joint Commission session.
Uzbek representatives highlighted their interest in Iranian aquaculture knowledge and technology, particularly ahead of the May Joint Commission meeting. The delegation formally invited Iranian businesses to invest in Uzbekistan's growing fisheries industry, signaling strong potential for bilateral economic cooperation.
