Doha – Head of the Iran Veterinary Organization Alireza Rafieipour led an official delegation to Qatar to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in livestock production, veterinary health, and related trade.

 

During meetings with senior Qatari veterinary authorities and on the sidelines of the AgriteQ 2026 exhibition, the two sides assessed Qatar’s market requirements and reviewed avenues for increasing Iranian exports. Qatari officials, citing Iran’s technical and production capacity, signaled interest in sourcing livestock and poultry inputs from Iran, including veterinary pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and specialized supplies.

 

The Iranian delegation presented national capabilities in the production of fertilized and table eggs, honey, dairy products, poultry and red meat, and aquaculture, as well as veterinary medicines, biological products, supplements, and micronutrients.

 

Initial understandings include the appointment of designated representatives in Tehran and Doha to oversee implementation of cooperation frameworks, alongside proposals to establish dedicated bilateral coordination desks to streamline technical and commercial engagement.

 

As part of the visit, Iranian officials toured a major poultry production complex that supplies an estimated 40-45 percent of Qatar’s chicken consumption, in addition to an industrial slaughterhouse and a livestock logistics center handling imports of sheep, goats, cattle, and camels.

 

Officials said Qatar’s reliance on imports across multiple livestock and aquaculture segments presents significant potential for expanding Iranian exports. Iran currently supplies limited volumes of veterinary pharmaceuticals to the Qatari market, with plans under discussion to broaden that trade.

 

AgriteQ 2026, held February 12–16 at Doha’s Katara Cultural Village, centers on food security and sustainable agriculture and forms part of Qatar’s National Food Security Strategy (2024–2030).
