Tehran – Iran and Kenya have explored new opportunities to deepen agricultural and trade relations during a meeting between Kenya’s ambassador to Tehran and officials from Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture.

According to a report carried by the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture, the discussions focused on leveraging the two countries’ complementary agricultural capacities to expand bilateral trade and strengthen cooperation across the sector.

Both sides reviewed prospects for importing tropical agricultural products from Kenya while increasing Iranian exports of agricultural products, inputs, and agricultural technologies, the report added.

“Participants also examined ways to facilitate private-sector engagement, exchange technical and business delegations, and establish more effective mechanisms for technical and economic cooperation.”

Iranian officials highlighted Africa’s growing importance in the country’s economic diplomacy strategy and described the potential for agricultural collaboration with Kenya as significant, reaffirming the ministry’s readiness to support joint initiatives and bilateral projects.

The Kenyan ambassador welcomed the talks and expressed his country’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Iran, pointing to promising opportunities in agricultural trade, technology transfer, joint investment, and research and training partnerships.
