Tehran – Iran and Belarus have agreed to expand agricultural cooperation, increase bilateral trade, and expedite the launch of a joint agricultural commission aimed at strengthening technical and commercial ties between the two countries.

 

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Iran's Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri and Dmitry Koltsov, Belarus' ambassador to Tehran, where the two sides explored new avenues for cooperation in agriculture and related industries.

 

Highlighting the complementary strengths of Iran and Belarus in agricultural production, livestock, and farm machinery, both sides emphasized the need to increase trade volumes and facilitate closer economic cooperation.

 

Discussions focused on expanding bilateral imports and exports of agricultural and livestock products, enhancing collaboration in agricultural machinery, particularly combine harvesters, and identifying new opportunities for partnership across a wide range of agricultural sectors.

 

The two sides also agreed to fast-track the convening of the Iran-Belarus Joint Commission on Agricultural Cooperation, describing it as a key platform for implementing bilateral agreements, removing barriers to cooperation, and promoting stronger technical, economic, and trade relations between Tehran and Minsk.

 

Concluding the meeting, both officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close consultations and deepening bilateral cooperation to leverage the two countries' complementary capacities in agriculture and contribute to regional food security.
