Iran, Afghanistan hold talks to expand agricultural trade
Tehran - Maryam Jalili-Moghaddam, Iran’s Deputy Minister and Head of the Plant Protection Organization, and Afghanistan’s Acting Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mawlawi Shahabuddin Saqib, explored ways to boost agricultural trade ties between the neighborly countries.
The recent meeting aimed to identify practical solutions for boosting Afghanistan’s agricultural exports to Iran and removing existing barriers to trade.
During the discussions, government officials and private-sector representatives from both sides reviewed issues such as increasing exports of Afghan cotton and other crops to Iran, facilitating customs and transportation procedures, improving quality standards, and establishing direct communication channels between producers and traders.
Both sides emphasized the need for continued consultations and the development of sustainable cooperation frameworks to streamline trade.
