Hormozgan Province – The southern province of Hormozgan has secured third place in Iran’s national date production rankings, a provincial official announced.

 

According to Mohammad Reza Sheikhzadeh, Horticulture Manager at the Hormozgan Agriculture Organization, the province plays a pivotal role in ensuring food security, producing more than 196,000 tons of dates annually.

 

“Innovation is at the heart of our success,” Sheikhzadeh said, noting that the adoption of modern pressurized irrigation systems and the use of mechanical pollination devices have significantly boosted efficiency and productivity across local palm groves.

 

Hormozgan’s agricultural strength is further supported by its premium date varieties - such as Medjool, Piarom, and Khasooi - which enjoy strong demand in both domestic and international markets.
