Head of IFO calls for novel approaches, major investment in fisheries value chain
Tehran -The Head of the Iran Fisheries Organization (IFO) has emphasized the need to rethink the development of the fisheries value chain through innovative approaches and large-scale, job-creating investments.
Hamzeh Rostampour made the remarks during a one-day visit to the northern Gilan Province, where he held talks with the provincial governor, the county governor, the head of the Anzali City Council, the parliamentary representative of Astaneh Ashrafieh, and the Director General of Gilan’s Fisheries Department.
Discussions focused on identifying key challenges faced by fisheries stakeholders and exploring practical solutions to improve conditions for producers and operators in the sector.
Speaking at a meeting of the Administrative Council of the Gilan Fisheries Department, Rostampour outlined the organization’s policy priorities and stressed the importance of harnessing the province’s significant fisheries potential.
He highlighted the need to advance marine-based economic projects and to make effective use of the coastal and hinterland capacities of the Caspian Sea.
The Deputy Minister reiterated that sustainable growth in the fisheries sector requires a shift in perspective toward the development of the full value chain, supported by new strategies and substantial, employment-generating investments.
