Greenhouse cultivation key to food security: Agriculture Minister

Ardabil Province – The Iranian minister of agriculture hailed greenhouse cultivation as a crucial solution for Iran's dry climate and an essential tool for achieving food security.
Addressing the inauguration of the Qarah Qabaq greenhouse complex in Parsabad Moghan in the northwestern province of Ardabil, Gholamreza Nouri said, “Greenhouses are a precise solution for Iran's arid climate—sixfold higher productivity, sixfold less water consumption, and $400 million in exports last year.”
The expansion of greenhouse infrastructure, the Minister noted, is vital for realizing food security, shortening the supply chain from farm to consumer, and ensuring greater profitability for Iranian farmers.
Furthermore, Nouri emphasized the critical role of agricultural organizations in engaging across the entire value chain, from initial production to international export.
He said that farmers should not be limited to production alone but should actively participate and benefit from all stages of the agricultural process.
