Golestan – The northern Golestan Province exported $24 million worth of fishery products last year, achieving a major milestone in the region's economic development, the province's Director General of Fisheries announced.

 

Ismaeil Jabbari said that in the Iranian year 1404, exports included packaged shrimp, cage-farmed rainbow trout, farmed caviar, fish feed, and ornamental fish. The products were shipped to Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Iraq.

 

He emphasized the importance of supporting local producers, adding that the fisheries department plans to help lower production costs and enhance global competitiveness for export-oriented fishery products by completing the value chain from production to domestic and foreign markets.

 

Jabbari noted that the province boasts reputable scientific centers, fry propagation centers, shrimp farms, sturgeon farms, warm-water and cold-water fish farms, ornamental fish production centers, fish feed factories, as well as fish and shrimp processing and packaging plants. These facilities, he said, provide a strong foundation for increased investment and foreign currency earnings.

 

He concluded by expressing confidence that, given its natural resources and existing infrastructure, Golestan will continue to solidify its position as one of the country's leading hubs for the production and export of fishery products in the years ahead.
