Gilan - The northern Gilan province and Uzbekistan are set to strengthen cooperation in the silk industry with the formation of a joint committee, according to Deputy Governor of Gilan for Economic Affairs.

 

Seyed Allahyar Mesbahi described Gilan as the historic cradle of silk production in Iran, emphasizing its untapped potential for collaboration with Uzbekistan.

 

He noted that partnerships in knowledge and technology exchange, investment in textile industries, joint branding, and organizing specialized exhibitions could not only create sustainable employment but also deepen economic and cultural ties between the two sides.

 

“The establishment of a joint silk committee between Gilan and Uzbekistan marks the beginning of a new chapter of cooperation,” Mesbahi said, underscoring the strategic importance of this initiative for regional development.
