Forage corn harvest begins in Eastern Iran
South Khorasan - The forage corn harvest has officially begun in the Mohammadabad Razaghzadeh fields of Nehbandan, South Khorasan province, an official said.
According to Maleki, head of the county’s Agricultural Office, the 30-hectare farm is expected to yield around 1,800 tons of forage corn, significantly supporting the area’s livestock feed needs.
He highlighted that the use of advanced pressurized irrigation systems has improved water efficiency and enhanced crop quality—an essential advantage in the region’s arid climate.
The farm also operates a dedicated solar power plant, ensuring reliable energy for irrigation and reducing dependence on the national grid during peak consumption periods.
Maleki said the integration of modern irrigation and renewable energy provides a strong, scalable model for sustainable and cost-efficient agriculture in Nehbandan.
