Shiraz - The southern Fars province, a powerhouse of Iran's agricultural sector, has embarked on a strategic initiative to convert livestock and poultry waste into clean energy, marking a major leap toward sustainable production and economic value creation.

 

Ali Fallahi, Deputy for Livestock Production Improvement at the Fars Agricultural Organization, underscored the province's immense potential in animal husbandry, stating that the deployment of advanced waste-management technologies, particularly biogas systems, curbs environmental pollution while unlocking renewable energy sources and delivering significant productivity gains for farming operations.

 

Biogas plants, he explained, process animal manure through anaerobic digestion to produce a versatile fuel that can be harnessed for heating, on-farm electricity generation, and substantial reductions in operational expenses.

 

Fallahi stressed that the shift toward smart, low-waste livestock and poultry facilities is a cornerstone of productivity enhancement.

 

He further noted that scaling up manure-processing technologies not only elevates hygienic standards and cuts contamination but also yields premium organic fertilizer, creating an additional revenue stream for producers.

 

Concluding his remarks, the deputy reaffirmed that waste-to-energy management in production units is a pivotal and effective strategy for realizing sustainable agriculture, safeguarding the environment, and reinforcing the agricultural value chain across Fars province, an agenda his office is pursuing with full commitment and urgency.
