Shiraz – Iran’s southern Fars Province remains the country’s leading grape producer, with annual output exceeding 517,000 tons, according to the head of the provincial Agriculture Organization.

 

“Accounting for 17% of Iran’s grape cultivation area and 14% of national production, Fars plays a pivotal role in the country’s grape industry. Major producing regions include Kavar, Bavanat, Mamasani, Firouzabad, Jahrom, Shiraz, and Beyza,” Ahad Bahjat-Haqiqi said.

 

He highlighted the province’s renowned rain-fed vineyards, particularly those in Noorabad-e Mamasani, where efforts are underway to secure international recognition for their unique agricultural heritage.

 

Bahjat-Haqiqi noted that grapes are not only consumed fresh but are also processed into products such as raisins, grape syrup, juice, and vinegar, underscoring the crop’s economic significance. "Ongoing vineyard modernization and rehabilitation programs are aimed at boosting productivity, quality, and long-term sustainability."
