Fars – Southern Fars Province, Iran’s second-largest producer of horticultural products, exports a diverse range of agricultural commodities to nine regional countries, according to local agricultural authorities.

 

Ahad Behjat-Haghighi, head of the Fars Agricultural Organization, said the province’s favorable climate, vast agricultural lands, and long-standing horticultural expertise have positioned it among Iran’s leading agricultural centers.

 

He noted that key export destinations include the UAE, Pakistan, Oman, Afghanistan, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.

 

“Major exports from the province include pistachios, pomegranates, dried figs, grapes, citrus fruits, apples, dates, almonds, saffron, Damask roses, raisins, medicinal herbs, and greenhouse-grown products.”

 

Behjat-Haghighi said the high quality of Fars’ produce, combined with staggered harvest seasons, efficient transport networks, and access to southern ports, has strengthened the province’s competitiveness in regional markets.

 

He added that further investment in processing, packaging, and value-added industries would help expand non-oil exports, increase foreign-exchange revenues, and create sustainable employment opportunities.
