FAO recognizes Iranian SarbanYar project among its top livestock innovations

Tehran – The innovative Iranian project “SarbanYar: A New IT-Based Approach to Camel Breeding – Online Monitoring, Phenotyping, and Rangeland Assessment via the SarbanYar Application (Case Study: Saghand, Yazd Province)” has been recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as one of the Top 50 Global Innovations in Livestock Production.

Developed by researchers at the Animal Science Research Institute of Iran, part of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), the project introduces a digital platform that integrates data-driven monitoring, phenotyping, and rangeland evaluation to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of camel breeding.

The SarbanYar initiative was selected for its contribution to sustainable livestock transformation and its alignment with FAO’s One Health framework, which promotes the interconnected well-being of animals, humans, and ecosystems through innovative and sustainable agricultural practices.
