FAO reaffirms readiness to support Iran’s agricultural development
Tehran – The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has reaffirmed its readiness to cooperate with Iran in advancing agriculture and strengthening food security, citing the country’s significant agricultural potential.
Speaking at the opening of the Livestock, Poultry and Aquaculture Exhibition, FAO Representative Farrokh Toirov said Iran’s fertile lands, diverse water resources and scientific achievements position it to play a larger role in regional and global food production.
“Iran has considerable capacity for agricultural growth and can serve as a model for other countries in the region,” he said.
He praised the contributions of Iranian experts and the private sector, noting that his visits to different provinces had revealed notable progress across various agricultural fields.
Toirov emphasized FAO’s willingness to share global expertise and work with Iranian stakeholders to enhance productivity and food security.
He added that stronger cooperation among government institutions, the private sector and international organizations could further boost Iran’s agricultural development while contributing to global food security.
